Zap Acne Away - Laser Treatments
Inflammatory acne lesions have found a safer non-invasive solution in laser treatment. There are few side effects, dramatic results, and the process appears to work on darker skin tones just as well as lighter ones.
The American Academy of Dermatology released a study in their journal where 22 patients were analysed for the acne laser treatment results. The candidates had skin tones ranging from light to dark and underwent three laser treatments within 3 to 4 week intervals. Both high and low doses of the laser treatment were tested, with 75% and 70% skin clarification resulting, respective to the different dosages. The side effects that did occur were extremely mild - redness and swelling. There was minimal pain that was extremely well tolerated by the patients.
The researchers involved concluded that the laser treatment is a safe and effective way to manage facial inflammatory acne vulgaris; that it is a "suitable first-line, second-line, or (add on) treatment modality for moderate to severe acne."
