Barbed Threads Improve Wound Closure

The threads used in traditional stitches are smooth and require knots to hold them in place. Knots can increase the risk of infection, wound leakage, and scarring. Contour Threads have tiny barbs and anchor themselves without the need for knots.

Currently used in suspension lifts (or thread lifts), a minimally invasive alternative to a facelift, Contour Threads may soon be used in cosmetic surgery procedures on other parts of the body, such as the breast surgery and tummy tucks as well as general surgery, wound closure, and other tissue repair. The barbed threads may improve healing and the appearance of scars by reducing tension on wounds as they heal.

Contour Threads are currently available in both absorbable and non-absorbable forms making them useful in a wide variety of applications.
