Advances in Fighting Cellulite

Cellulite afflicts about 90% of women over 30 and many men. Easily mistaken for fat, the problem actually lies in the skin. Even skinny women can have lumpy, unsightly cellulite, and it drives many to extreme and unhealthy weight loss efforts which never produce the desired results.

Cellulite is actually caused by lack of skin elasticity and bands of fibrous tissue within the skin. A recent study found that, in many women, weight loss can actually make the appearance of cellulite worse.

There is hope that the enzyme collagenase may help to reduce cellulite. Collagenase breaks down collagen and in the process breaks up the fibrous tissues which cause the lumps and bumps. Recent research has shown very promising results, with test subjects experiencing a 77% reduction in dimpling almost immediately after collagenase injections.
