Manuka Honey

Honey is natural source of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and enzymes. It is moisturizing to the skin and because of its natural antibiotic properties can help heal wounds and reduce acne. The exact composition varies depending on the flowers from which the bees gathered the nectar used in making the honey. Regularly consuming locally produced honey can help prevent allergies.

Honey from the Manuka tree, which grows in New Zealand, contains an additional antibacterial substance. The antibacterial strength of the honey is called the Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) and products containing the honey carry a UMF rating, with UMF 16+ being the highest. Skin care products including gentle, acne fighting cleansers, made with Manuka honey not only have an extra antibacterial boost, but encourage new cell growth, encouraging healing and rejuvenating the skin.
