Microdermabrasion - Skin Rejuvenation Technique
Microdermabrasion may be a skin rejuvenation option if your goal is to reduce signs of aging and sun exposure, such as crow’s feet, age spots and laugh lines. It may also be useful in reducing the appearance of acne scars in both teens and adults.
By spraying micro-crystals specially designed for dermabrasion, similar to a fine sandblaster, the cosmetic surgeon or dermatologist removes the dead, outer layer of skin. The body responds by producing new skin cells and collagen. This is usually done over a series of 5-10 treatments, with each visit stimulating a layer of new, healthy skin to achieve lasting results. The treatments take between thirty minutes and one hour, and should be spaced at least two weeks apart.
Some cosmetic surgeons have described microdermabrasion as a “lunch time peel”. It is done quickly with very few side effects, and requires no anesthesia. Some skin types respond to microdermabrasion better than others. Please consult a qualified cosmetic surgeon before further considering any dermabrasion procedure.
